Description

Crispy and flavorful Air Fryer Chicken Thighs featuring a simple blend of Italian seasoning, garlic and onion powders, cooked to perfection in just 25 minutes. This easy recipe delivers juicy, tender chicken with a crispy skin using your air fryer for a quick and healthier alternative to traditional frying.

Ingredients

Scale

Chicken

  • 4 large bone-in skin-on chicken thighs (about 1.5-2 lbs. total)

Seasoning & Oil

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • Salt & pepper, to taste
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder

Instructions

  1. Prepare the air fryer: Spray the air fryer basket with non-stick cooking spray and preheat your air fryer to 400°F (204°C). This ensures the chicken doesn’t stick and helps achieve a crispy crust.
  2. Season the chicken: Pat the chicken thighs dry thoroughly with paper towels. Place them in a large bowl and toss with olive oil, salt, pepper, Italian seasoning, onion powder, and garlic powder until evenly coated.
  3. Cook the chicken: Arrange the chicken thighs skin side down in a single layer in the preheated air fryer basket. Cook for 12 minutes. Then carefully flip each thigh using tongs and continue cooking for another 10 minutes or until the skin is golden and crispy and internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C).
  4. Rest and serve: Remove the chicken from the air fryer and let it rest for 3-5 minutes. This helps the juices redistribute, ensuring tender and juicy meat before serving.

Notes

  • Cooking times may vary depending on the size of the chicken thighs and the model of your air fryer.
  • Make sure the chicken thighs are spaced out in a single layer for even cooking and crispiness.
  • Use a meat thermometer to ensure the chicken reaches safe internal temperature without overcooking.
  • Feel free to adjust seasonings to your taste or add a pinch of smoked paprika or chili powder for extra flavor.
