Description

Birds Milk Jello is a delightful layered dessert that combines creamy gelatin and fruity raspberry jello for a light, colorful treat. This no-bake recipe features a smooth white gelatin cream base topped with a vibrant pink raspberry jello, perfect for gatherings or a refreshing dessert anytime.

Ingredients

Scale

Gelatin Cream Base

  • 1 packet unflavored gelatin (1/4 oz, roughly 7 grams or 1 1/2 tsp)
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 8 oz tub sour cream
  • 8 oz tub cool whip (fully thawed)
  • Red gel food coloring (a few drops)

Raspberry Jello Layer

  • 6 oz raspberry jello powder
  • 2 cups boiling water

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Baking Dish: Spray an 8×8-inch glass baking dish with cooking spray to prevent the jello from sticking during serving.
  2. Bloom Gelatin: In a small pan over medium heat, whisk together the unflavored gelatin with 1/2 cup milk. Stir continuously until the mixture just begins to steam, then remove from heat without boiling and set aside to cool.
  3. Mix Cream Layer: Using an electric mixer on medium speed, beat together 1/2 cup sugar, sour cream, and fully thawed cool whip until smooth and well blended.
  4. Add Gelatin Mixture: With the mixer running on medium speed, slowly pour the warm milk and gelatin mixture into the cream blend, mixing thoroughly.
  5. Form White Layer: Pour half of the cream mixture into the prepared baking dish, and smooth the top evenly.
  6. Color Second Cream Layer: Add red gel food coloring drop by drop into the remaining cream mixture until you achieve the desired pink shade. Spread this pink cream evenly over the white layer. Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to set slightly.
  7. Prepare Raspberry Jello: Dissolve the raspberry jello powder in 2 cups of boiling water. Stir well and set aside to cool to room temperature or just lukewarm.
  8. Top with Jello Layer: Once the raspberry jello is cooled, gently pour it over the set cream layers. Optionally, add raspberries or sliced strawberries on top for extra flavor and garnish.
  9. Chill and Set: Refrigerate the entire dessert for 2 to 4 hours until the jello is fully set. Serve chilled and enjoy your unique Birds Milk Jello dessert.

Notes

  • Ensure the cool whip is fully thawed before mixing to avoid lumps in the cream layers.
  • Do not boil the milk and gelatin mixture; heat only until steaming to properly activate gelatin without damaging its setting ability.
  • Add food coloring gradually to control the shade of the pink cream layer.
  • Fruit such as raspberries or sliced strawberries adds both flavor and visual appeal when added atop the raspberry jello layer.
  • This dessert requires refrigeration and no baking, making it an easy and refreshing choice for warm days.
