Ingredients
Scale
Chicken and Pasta
- 3 cups cooked chicken, shredded or diced
- 12 ounces fettuccine pasta
Sauce
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 cups heavy cream
- 1 cup whole milk
- 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- Salt and pepper to taste
Topping and Garnish
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley (optional, for garnish)
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) to prepare for baking the casserole.
- Cook Pasta: Cook the fettuccine pasta according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
- Sauté Garlic: In a large skillet over medium heat, add olive oil and sauté the minced garlic until fragrant, about 1-2 minutes.
- Make Sauce: Stir in the heavy cream and whole milk. Bring the mixture to a simmer and reduce the heat to low.
- Add Cheese and Seasoning: Gradually whisk in the Parmesan cheese until the sauce is smooth and creamy. Season with Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper.
- Combine Pasta and Chicken: Add the cooked chicken and cooked pasta to the sauce, stirring well to ensure everything is evenly coated.
- Assemble Bake: Transfer the mixture to a greased 9×13 inch baking dish. Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella cheese evenly over the top.
- Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes or until the cheese is bubbly and golden brown.
- Garnish and Serve: Remove from oven and allow to cool for a few minutes. Garnish with chopped parsley, if desired, before serving.
Notes
- Use freshly grated Parmesan cheese for a smoother, richer sauce.
- Leftover roasted or rotisserie chicken works perfectly for this recipe.
- You can substitute heavy cream with half-and-half for a lighter version, but the sauce may be less rich.
- For extra flavor, add a pinch of nutmeg to the Alfredo sauce.
- If desired, add steamed broccoli or sautéed mushrooms to the bake for added vegetables.
