Description

These Crispy Cheeseburger Egg Rolls are a fun and delicious twist on a classic cheeseburger, wrapped in crispy golden egg roll wrappers. Perfect as an appetizer or snack, they combine seasoned ground beef, cheddar cheese, pickles, and classic condiments, all deep-fried to perfection for a crunchy, melty experience.

Ingredients

Scale

Filling

  • 1/2 lb ground beef
  • 1/2 cup diced onions
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/4 cup pickles, finely chopped
  • 1 tablespoon ketchup
  • 1 teaspoon mustard
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Assembly

  • 8 egg roll wrappers

Frying

  • Vegetable oil, for frying

Instructions

  1. Cook the beef and onions: In a skillet over medium heat, cook ground beef together with diced onions until beef is browned and onions are soft. Drain any excess fat from the skillet.
  2. Make the filling: Remove the skillet from heat and stir in shredded cheddar cheese, chopped pickles, ketchup, mustard, garlic powder, salt, and pepper to combine evenly.
  3. Prepare the egg roll wrappers: Lay one egg roll wrapper flat on a clean surface. Spoon about 2-3 tablespoons of the beef mixture near one corner of the wrapper.
  4. Roll the egg rolls: Fold in the sides of the wrapper, then roll tightly from the corner with filling to the opposite edge, using a little water to seal the edge and secure the roll.
  5. Repeat: Repeat the filling and rolling process with the remaining wrappers and beef mixture.
  6. Heat the oil: In a deep skillet or fryer, heat vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C) for frying.
  7. Fry the egg rolls: Fry the egg rolls in batches for 3-4 minutes each, or until they are golden brown and crispy on all sides.
  8. Drain and serve: Remove the fried egg rolls and drain on paper towels to remove excess oil. Serve hot with ketchup or your favorite dipping sauce.

Notes

  • Ensure the oil temperature stays at 350°F to get perfectly crispy egg rolls without absorbing excess oil.
  • You can customize the filling by adding cooked bacon, sautéed mushrooms, or other favorite cheeseburger toppings.
  • For a lighter option, try baking the egg rolls at 425°F for 15-20 minutes, turning halfway through until golden and crispy.
  • Be careful not to overfill the egg roll wrappers to avoid tearing during rolling or frying.
  • These can be made ahead and frozen; fry directly from frozen by adding an extra minute or two to the cooking time.
