Description

This Crock Pot Chicken and Gravy recipe is a comforting, easy-to-make meal perfect for busy days. Tender boneless, skinless chicken breasts are slow cooked in a savory gravy made from cream of chicken soup and chicken gravy mix, infused with herbs and spices. It’s an effortless, hearty dish that pairs wonderfully with mashed potatoes or rice, delivering homestyle flavor with minimal prep.

Ingredients

Scale

Chicken and Vegetables

  • 1 cup diced yellow onions
  • 1.5 lbs boneless, skinless chicken breasts

Gravy

  • 10.5 oz can condensed cream of chicken soup
  • 2 packets chicken gravy mix
  • â…“ cup water
  • ½ teaspoon ground sage
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon parsley flakes

Instructions

  1. Prep Crock Pot: Spray the inside of the Crock Pot with cooking spray to prevent sticking and make cleanup easier.
  2. Layer Ingredients: Place the diced yellow onions evenly in the bottom of the Crock Pot. Arrange the boneless, skinless chicken breasts in a single layer directly on top of the onions.
  3. Make Gravy: In a medium bowl, whisk together the condensed cream of chicken soup, chicken gravy mix packets, water, ground sage, black pepper, and parsley flakes until the mixture is smooth and well combined.
  4. Pour and Cook: Pour the prepared gravy mixture evenly over the chicken breasts in the Crock Pot. Cover the lid securely and cook on the LOW setting for 5 hours to allow the chicken to become tender and the flavors to meld.
  5. Shred and Serve: After 5 hours, remove the lid and stir the chicken and gravy together. While stirring, break the chicken breasts apart to shred them into the gravy, creating a creamy and flavorful consistency. Serve hot over mashed potatoes or rice for a satisfying meal.

Notes

  • For best results, use fresh or thawed chicken breasts.
  • You can substitute yellow onions with white onions if preferred.
  • Add vegetables like carrots or peas during the last hour of cooking for added nutrition.
  • Adjust seasoning to taste before serving.
  • Leftovers can be refrigerated up to 3 days or frozen for up to 3 months.
