Description

These Fire Crackers are a spicy, savory snack made by coating mini saltine crackers in a flavorful blend of oil and seasonings, then baking them to a perfect crunch. They are easy to prepare and make a great party appetizer or game day snack with a kick.

Ingredients

Scale

Crackers

  • 1 11 ounce box mini saltine crackers

Seasoning Mix

  • 1/2 cup avocado oil (or olive oil, or vegetable oil)
  • 2 tablespoons ranch dressing seasoning blend
  • 1 tablespoon crushed red pepper flakes
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon dried dill
  • 1/8 teaspoon cayenne pepper

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Crackers: Pour the mini saltine crackers into a gallon zip-top plastic bag; set aside for coating.
  2. Mix Seasonings: In a small mixing bowl, whisk together the avocado oil, ranch dressing seasoning blend, crushed red pepper flakes, garlic powder, dried dill, and cayenne pepper until fully combined.
  3. Coat the Crackers: Pour the seasoning mixture into the zip-top bag with the crackers, seal tightly, and shake vigorously until all crackers are evenly coated with the flavorful oil and seasonings. Let the crackers soak in the mixture for 10-15 minutes to absorb the flavors.
  4. Preheat the Oven: Set your oven to 250°F (120°C) and allow it to fully preheat for even baking.
  5. Bake the Crackers: Spread the coated crackers in a single layer on a parchment paper or foil-lined baking sheet to prevent sticking. Bake them at 250°F for 10 minutes or until they turn a light golden brown and become crisp.
  6. Cool and Serve: Remove the baking sheet from the oven and let the fire crackers cool to room temperature before serving to enjoy the perfect crunch and flavor.

Notes

  • For a milder version, reduce the amount of crushed red pepper flakes and cayenne pepper.
  • You can substitute avocado oil with olive oil or any vegetable oil if preferred.
  • The crackers can be stored in an airtight container for up to a week to maintain freshness.
  • If you don’t have ranch dressing seasoning blend, you can make your own with dried herbs, garlic powder, onion powder, and buttermilk powder.
  • Baking at a low temperature helps the crackers soak up the flavors without burning.
