Description

This Fresh Peach Cobbler is a classic, homemade dessert featuring juicy, sweet peaches topped with a tender, buttery biscuit crust. Baked to golden perfection, it’s an inviting treat perfect for summer gatherings or a cozy family dessert.

Ingredients

Scale

Peach Filling

  • 5-6 cups peeled and sliced fresh peaches (about 6-7 peaches)
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/8 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice
  • 2 teaspoons cornstarch

Biscuit Topping

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 6 tablespoons unsalted butter, cold and cubed
  • 1/4 cup boiling water

Topping Sprinkle

  • 3 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Peach Filling: Preheat your oven to 425°F (218°C). In a large bowl, combine sliced peaches, granulated sugar, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, lemon juice, and cornstarch. Mix well to coat the peaches evenly.
  2. Transfer Filling: Pour the peach mixture into a 9×13 inch baking dish, spreading it out evenly.
  3. Prepare the Biscuit Topping: In a medium bowl, mix together all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, brown sugar, baking powder, and salt. Using a pastry cutter or two forks, cut in the cold, cubed butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. Combine Topping: Stir in the boiling water just until combined to form the biscuit dough.
  5. Assemble Cobbler: Drop spoonfuls of the biscuit topping evenly over the peach filling in the baking dish.
  6. Add Sprinkle Topping: In a small bowl, mix granulated sugar and ground cinnamon, then sprinkle evenly over the biscuit topping.
  7. Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes or until the topping is golden brown and the peach filling is bubbling.
  8. Cool and Serve: Allow the cobbler to cool slightly before serving to let the filling set.

Notes

  • For best results, use ripe but firm peaches that are not overly soft.
  • You can substitute fresh peaches with frozen peaches if fresh are not available, just thaw and drain excess liquid before using.
  • The biscuit topping can be made a bit sweeter or less sweet depending on preference.
  • Serve with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream for added indulgence.
  • Leftovers can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days and reheated before serving.
