Ingredients
Scale
Sliders
- 12 Hawaiian rolls (or slider buns)
- 1 lb deli ham (thinly sliced)
- 12 slices Swiss cheese (or your choice of cheese)
Butter Sauce
- 1/4 cup melted butter
- 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tablespoon poppy seeds
- 1 tablespoon brown sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
- Salt and pepper, to taste
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish with butter or non-stick cooking spray to prevent sticking.
- Prepare Rolls: Slice the Hawaiian rolls horizontally, keeping the top and bottom halves connected for easy assembly. Arrange the bottom halves in the greased baking dish evenly.
- Layer Fillings: Evenly layer the thinly sliced deli ham over the bottom halves of the rolls. Then, place a slice of Swiss cheese on top of the ham layer. Finally, cover with the top halves of the rolls.
- Make Butter Sauce: In a small bowl, whisk together the melted butter, Dijon mustard, Worcestershire sauce, poppy seeds, brown sugar, garlic powder, and onion powder. Season the mixture with salt and pepper according to your taste.
- Coat Sliders: Pour the prepared butter sauce evenly over the tops of the assembled sliders. Use a basting brush for thorough and even coating on each roll.
- Bake Covered: Cover the baking dish securely with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 15 minutes to allow the flavors to meld and cheese to start melting.
- Bake Uncovered: Remove the foil and continue baking for an additional 5 to 10 minutes, or until the sliders are golden brown on top and the cheese is fully melted.
- Rest and Serve: Remove the sliders from the oven and let them rest for a few minutes before slicing between each roll. Serve warm for the best taste and texture.
Notes
- You can swap Swiss cheese with cheddar, provolone, or mozzarella depending on your preference.
- For a spicier kick, add a pinch of cayenne pepper or red pepper flakes to the butter sauce.
- These sliders can be assembled a few hours ahead and refrigerated; just add a few extra minutes to the baking time if baking cold.
- To make cleanup easier, line your baking dish with parchment paper or foil before assembling.
- Leftover sliders store well covered in the fridge and can be reheated in the oven at 325°F for 10-15 minutes.
