Description

This Indulgent Garlic Butter Chicken Skillet recipe features tender boneless skinless chicken thighs or breasts seared to perfection and simmered in a luscious garlic butter cream sauce. Infused with fresh garlic, a splash of chicken broth, and heavy cream, this dish delivers rich flavors and comforting textures perfect for a satisfying weeknight meal. Finished with fresh herbs and optional paprika, it’s a dish you’ll crave again and again.

Ingredients

Scale

Chicken

  • 4 pieces Boneless Skinless Chicken Thighs or Breasts

For Searing

  • 1 tablespoon Olive Oil

Sauce Ingredients

  • 3 tablespoons Butter
  • 4-5 cloves Fresh Garlic, minced
  • 1 cup Chicken Broth (preferably low-sodium)
  • ½ cup Heavy Cream
  • Salt & Pepper, to taste
  • 1 tablespoon Fresh Parsley or Chives, chopped
  • Paprika, to taste (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Chicken: Pat the chicken thighs or breasts dry with paper towels. Season both sides generously with salt, pepper, and optional paprika to enhance the flavor.
  2. Sear the Chicken: Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the chicken pieces and sear each side until golden brown, about 3-4 minutes per side. Remove chicken from the skillet and set aside.
  3. Sauté Garlic: In the same skillet, reduce the heat to medium and add butter. Once melted, add the minced garlic and sauté for about 1-2 minutes until fragrant but not browned.
  4. Make the Sauce: Pour in the chicken broth, scraping up any browned bits from the bottom of the skillet. Let the broth reduce slightly, then stir in the heavy cream. Simmer gently for 3-4 minutes to thicken the sauce.
  5. Finish Cooking the Chicken: Return the seared chicken to the skillet, spooning some sauce over the pieces. Cover and let it cook on low heat for another 5-7 minutes or until the chicken is cooked through and the sauce has thickened further.
  6. Garnish and Serve: Sprinkle chopped fresh parsley or chives over the completed dish for a pop of color and fresh flavor. Serve the garlic butter chicken hot, spooning extra sauce over the top.

Notes

  • For best results, use boneless skinless chicken thighs for juicier meat, but chicken breasts work well too.
  • Adjust the amount of garlic to your taste preference, adding more for a stronger garlic flavor.
  • Use low-sodium chicken broth to control saltiness in the final dish.
  • Serve this skillet meal with mashed potatoes, rice, or crusty bread to enjoy the creamy garlic butter sauce fully.
  • Leftovers can be refrigerated for 2-3 days and gently reheated on the stovetop.
