Description

These Jack-o-lantern Cheese Quesadillas are a fun and festive twist on a classic snack, perfect for Halloween parties or a spooky movie night. Made with gooey cheddar cheese and served with optional sour cream and salsa, they are sure to delight both kids and adults alike.

Ingredients

Scale

Tortillas:

4 large flour tortillas

Cheese:

2 cups shredded cheddar cheese

Other:

1 tablespoon olive oil or butter, sour cream for serving (optional), salsa for serving (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare Tortillas: Lay two tortillas on a clean surface. Use a small paring knife to carefully cut jack-o-lantern faces into each tortilla—triangles for eyes and nose, and a jagged smile for the mouth. Set aside.
  2. Cook Quesadillas: Heat a large skillet over medium heat and add half the olive oil or butter. Place the remaining two whole tortillas in the pan, then sprinkle 1 cup of shredded cheese evenly over each. Top with the jack-o-lantern face tortillas. Cook for 2-3 minutes until the bottom is golden and the cheese begins to melt. Carefully flip and cook another 2-3 minutes until the second side is golden and the cheese is fully melted.
  3. Serve: Remove from heat and let cool slightly before slicing. Serve warm with sour cream or salsa if desired.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, add sliced jalapeños or cooked chicken between the tortillas.
  • You can also use different cheeses like Monterey Jack or mozzarella for a milder flavor.
  • Use a pumpkin-shaped cookie cutter to make the process easier and more fun for kids.
