Description
A fun and healthy Halloween-themed snack, Kiwi Frankenstein features fresh kiwis decorated with pretzel arms, candy eyes, and chocolate details to create adorable Frankenstein monsters. Perfect for kid-friendly parties or festive treats.
Ingredients
Scale
Fruits
- 4 fresh kiwis
Snacks & Sweets
- 8 small pretzel sticks
- 3 tablespoons chocolate chips
- 16 candy eyes
Instructions
- Prepare Kiwis: Cut each kiwi in half lengthwise. Using a small, sharp knife, cut about two-thirds of the skin off, leaving a jagged ‘hairline’ of skin around the top to resemble hair.
- Attach Arms: Break half-inch pieces off the ends of each pretzel stick and press them into the sides of the kiwi halves to act as Frankenstein’s arms.
- Melt Chocolate: Place the chocolate chips in a small microwave-safe bowl and heat in the microwave until melted, stirring until smooth.
- Decorate Faces: Using a toothpick or skewer, dab melted chocolate on the back of each candy eye and stick them onto the kiwis as eyes. Use the remaining melted chocolate to draw mouths and scars on each kiwi for a spooky effect.
- Chill and Serve: Serve immediately or chill in the refrigerator until the chocolate sets and hardens for easier handling.
Notes
- Use fresh, firm kiwis for best results and easier decorating.
- Choose candy eyes available at most craft or baking stores; alternatively, you can use small dots of white and dark chocolate.
- If you don’t have a microwave, melt the chocolate chips in a double boiler over simmering water.
- These can be prepared in advance and chilled, but add pretzels last to keep them crunchy.
- Great for Halloween parties or as a healthy snack with a fun twist.
