Description

This Mint Hot Chocolate recipe is a creamy and festive beverage perfect for cozying up during chilly weather. Combining warm milk, half & half, and white chocolate chips with refreshing peppermint extract and optional Irish Cream liquor, it delivers a rich, minty flavor topped with whipped cream and crunchy Andes mint crumbles for an indulgent treat.

Ingredients

Scale

Liquids

  • 2 cups milk
  • 2 cups half & half
  • 1 oz Irish Cream liquor (optional)

Flavorings and Mix-ins

  • ½ bag white chocolate chips
  • 1 tsp peppermint extract
  • few drops of green food coloring

Garnishes

  • Crushed Andes mints
  • Whipped Cream

Instructions

  1. Heat the milk and half & half: In a large pot over medium heat, add the milk and half & half. Warm the mixture until it is hot but not boiling, stirring occasionally to prevent scorching.
  2. Melt the white chocolate: Add the white chocolate chips to the hot milk mixture. Stir continuously until the chocolate chips are completely melted and the mixture is smooth and creamy.
  3. Add flavorings and color: Stir in the Irish Cream liquor if using, peppermint extract, and a few drops of green food coloring. Mix thoroughly to combine all the flavors evenly.
  4. Mix well: Continue to stir the hot chocolate to ensure all ingredients are well incorporated and the drink is heated through.
  5. Garnish and serve: Pour the hot chocolate into mugs. Top each serving with a generous amount of whipped cream and sprinkle crushed Andes mints over the whipped cream for added texture and minty flavor.

Notes

  • You can omit the Irish Cream liquor to make this recipe suitable for all ages.
  • Adjust peppermint extract quantity to taste; it is quite potent.
  • Use good quality white chocolate chips for the best smoothness and flavor.
  • To make it more festive, add a candy cane as a stirrer.
  • For a thicker hot chocolate, increase the amount of white chocolate chips slightly.
