Ingredients
Scale
Crust
- 1 package Oreo cookies (about 36)
- 6 Tablespoons unsalted butter (melted)
Cream Cheese Layer
- 8 ounces cream cheese (softened)
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 2 Tablespoons whole milk
- 6 ounces Cool Whip (half of 12 ounces)
Pudding Layer
- 2 (8 ounce) boxes instant chocolate pudding mix
- 3 1/4 cups whole milk
Topping
- 6 ounces Cool Whip (remaining half)
- 1/2 cup mini chocolate chips
Instructions
- Crush the Oreos: Using a blender or a rolling pin and a zip lock bag, crush the Oreos into fine crumbs for the base layer.
- Combine Crust Ingredients: In a large bowl, mix the crushed cookie crumbs with the melted butter until well combined.
- Press Crust: Firmly press the cookie crumb mixture into the bottom of a 9×13 inch baking dish to form an even crust. Set aside.
- Prepare Cream Cheese Layer: In a medium bowl, beat the softened cream cheese with a mixer until smooth. Add in the sugar, 2 tablespoons of whole milk, and half (6 ounces) of the Cool Whip, mixing until fully combined and creamy.
- Assemble Cream Cheese Layer: Spread the cream cheese mixture evenly over the cookie crust. Refrigerate for 15 minutes to allow it to set.
- Make Chocolate Pudding: Meanwhile, in a large bowl, whisk together the instant chocolate pudding mixes and 3 1/4 cups whole milk using a mixer or whisk until the pudding thickens.
- Layer Pudding: Remove the dish from the fridge and spread the thickened chocolate pudding over the cream cheese layer. Return to fridge for 1 hour to set.
- Add Final Topping: Once set, spread the remaining Cool Whip over the pudding layer and sprinkle mini chocolate chips evenly on top.
- Freeze Before Serving: Cover the dish with foil or plastic wrap and freeze for 1 hour to firm up before slicing and serving.
Notes
- For best results, use full-fat dairy products for richer flavor and creaminess.
- If Oreo cookies are not available, use a similar chocolate sandwich cookie.
- Allow the dessert to thaw slightly for 5-10 minutes before serving if it is too firm from freezing.
- Can be stored covered in the refrigerator for up to 3 days or in the freezer for up to one week.
- Make sure the cream cheese is softened to avoid lumps in the cream cheese layer.
