Description
This fun and spooky Oreo Spiders recipe is a delightful no-bake treat perfect for Halloween parties or themed gatherings. Using Peanut Butter Oreos as the spider’s body, pretzel sticks for legs, and Reese’s Pieces for eyes, these adorable spiders are held together with melted dark chocolate, making them both delicious and easy to assemble.
Ingredients
Scale
Cookies
- 24 Peanut Butter Oreo Cookies
Chocolate
- 1 cup Dark Chocolate Chips (170 grams)
Decorations
- 96 Pretzel Sticks (halved)
- 24 Reese’s Pieces Candies (halved)
Instructions
- Prepare Oreos: Place the 24 Peanut Butter Oreo cookies on a large, parchment-lined baking sheet to serve as the base for the spider bodies.
- Melt Chocolate: Pour the dark chocolate chips into a microwave-safe bowl and heat for 45 seconds. Stir well and continue reheating in 10-15 second increments, stirring after each until fully melted.
- Attach Legs: Dip the ends of four pretzel stick halves into the melted chocolate and gently press them into one side of an Oreo. Repeat this for the other side with four more pretzel halves, creating eight legs total for each spider.
- Add Eyes: Using a toothpick, spread melted chocolate onto the cut side of two matching halves of Reese’s Pieces and place them cut side down on top of each Oreo to form the spider’s eyes. Repeat for all spiders.
- Set Legs: Allow the pretzel legs to set firmly into the Oreos. If necessary, refrigerate the spiders for 10-15 minutes until the chocolate hardens and legs are secure.
- Chocolate Feet: Ensure the chocolate is still melted; reheat in 10-15 second increments if needed. Dip the bottom of the pretzel legs on each side of the spider into the melted chocolate to create the spider’s ‘feet’ and replace them on the baking sheet.
- Final Setting: Let the completed spiders cool until the chocolate is fully set, about 30 minutes at room temperature or 15 minutes in the refrigerator.
Notes
- Use peanut butter Oreo cookies for a richer, unique flavor.
- Be careful not to overheat the chocolate to avoid burning it.
- If legs are unstable, refrigerate spiders longer to allow chocolate to harden.
- These treats are best served the same day for optimal freshness.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature or in the refrigerator.
