Ingredients
Scale
Pizza Pockets
- 13.8 oz refrigerated pizza crust (1 tube)
- 6 tablespoons pasta sauce
- 1 cup mozzarella cheese (or 6 mozzarella cheese sticks cut into small pieces)
- 12 slices pepperoni
- Olive oil (for brushing)
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano (or Italian seasoning)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven: Preheat the oven to 425°F to ensure it is hot and ready for baking the pizza pockets.
- Prepare the dough squares: Cut the pizza crust into 6 equal squares. On each square, spoon 1 tablespoon of pasta sauce in the center, then top with mozzarella cheese pieces and 2 pepperoni slices.
- Shape the pockets: Fold each square over to form a rectangle, pinching the edges together tightly to seal. You may shape the pockets into rectangles or half circles as preferred.
- Seal and arrange: Use a fork to press along the edges further sealing the pockets. Place them evenly spaced on a large baking sheet.
- Add finishing touches: Brush the tops of each pizza pocket with olive oil and sprinkle dried oregano or Italian seasoning over them for added flavor.
- Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 10 to 13 minutes, or until the crust turns golden brown and crispy.
- Rest and serve: Remove from the oven and let the pizza pockets rest for 5 minutes before serving to allow filling to settle.
Notes
- You can substitute the mozzarella cheese sticks with shredded mozzarella for easier filling.
- For extra crispiness, brush with olive oil before and after adding the seasoning.
- Try adding other fillings like sliced mushrooms or bell peppers for variety.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container and reheat in the oven for best texture.
- Adjust seasoning based on taste, adding garlic powder or chili flakes for a spicy kick.
