Ingredients
Scale
Green Beans
- 1 pound green beans, ends trimmed
Cooking Liquids and Fats
- 1/3 cup water
- 2 tablespoons butter
Seasonings
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Bring water to a boil: Add 1/3 cup of water to a skillet and heat it over medium-high heat until the water begins to boil.
- Cook the green beans: Add the trimmed green beans to the boiling water, cover the skillet, and let them cook for 4-5 minutes until they are tender-crisp. If you prefer softer beans, cook for an additional 2 minutes.
- Drain the water: Carefully drain the water from the skillet, leaving the beans in the pan.
- Prepare to sauté: Return the skillet with the beans to the stove, set to medium heat.
- Sauté with butter and seasonings: Add 2 tablespoons of butter to the skillet. Sprinkle in the onion powder, garlic powder, and season generously with salt and pepper. Toss the beans for about one minute using tongs or two spoons, ensuring they are well coated and heated through. Serve immediately.
Notes
- For a stronger garlic or onion flavor, you can increase the respective powders slightly or add fresh minced garlic or onions in the sauté step.
- To keep the green beans vibrant and crisp, avoid overcooking during the initial boiling step.
- You can substitute butter with olive oil for a dairy-free option.
- Adjust seasoning according to your preference; a pinch of red pepper flakes can add a spicy kick.
