Description

This Shrimp Ravioli in Creamy Garlic Sauce is a luscious and comforting dish featuring tender shrimp and delicate ravioli bathed in a rich, garlicky cream sauce. Enhanced with Parmesan cheese and a splash of white wine, it makes for an elegant yet easy-to-make meal perfect for weeknight dinners or special occasions.

Ingredients

Scale

Shrimp and Ravioli

  • 1 lb fresh shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 1 package ravioli (store-bought or homemade)
  • Salt and pepper to taste

For Cooking and Sauce

  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tbsp butter
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup white wine (optional)
  • 1/2 cup chicken or vegetable broth
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1/4 cup Parmesan cheese, grated
  • Fresh parsley for garnish

Instructions

  1. Cook the ravioli: Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the ravioli and cook according to the package instructions, usually about 3–5 minutes, until they float to the surface. Drain well and set aside.
  2. Sauté the shrimp: Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Season the shrimp with salt and pepper. Add them to the skillet and cook for 2–3 minutes per side or until they turn pink and opaque. Remove shrimp from the skillet and set aside.
  3. Make the sauce: In the same skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant but not browned. If using white wine, pour it in and let it simmer until reduced by half, about 2–3 minutes.
  4. Add cream and cheese: Stir in the chicken or vegetable broth and heavy cream. Let the mixture simmer gently for 5–7 minutes, allowing it to thicken slightly. Stir in the grated Parmesan cheese until fully melted and the sauce is smooth.
  5. Combine: Return the cooked shrimp and ravioli to the skillet. Toss gently to coat everything evenly with the creamy garlic sauce. Cook together for an additional 2 minutes to meld the flavors.
  6. Serve: Garnish with freshly chopped parsley and extra Parmesan cheese as desired. Serve warm for the best flavor and texture.

Notes

  • For a lighter version, substitute heavy cream with half-and-half or use a low-fat dairy alternative.
  • If you prefer a spicier kick, add a pinch of red pepper flakes when sautéing the garlic.
  • White wine is optional, but it adds a lovely depth of flavor. If omitted, increase broth slightly for sauce volume.
  • Fresh parsley adds a nice color and freshness; you can substitute with basil or chives for variation.
  • Use store-bought ravioli for convenience or homemade for a more artisanal touch.
