Ingredients
Scale
Pudding Mixture
- 1 (3.4 oz) box instant banana pudding mix
- 2 cups cold milk
- 1 (8 oz) container whipped topping (like Cool Whip), thawed
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
Fruit Layers
- 1 cup sliced fresh strawberries
- 2 bananas, sliced
Crunchy Topping
- 1 cup vanilla wafers, crushed
- 1/2 cup freeze-dried strawberries, crushed
- 2 tablespoons butter, melted
Optional Garnish
- Extra fresh strawberries and banana slices for garnish
Instructions
- Make the Pudding: Whisk the banana pudding mix and cold milk in a mixing bowl for 2 minutes until the mixture thickens and becomes smooth.
- Fold in Whipped Topping: Gently fold the whipped topping and vanilla extract into the pudding mixture until fully combined and creamy.
- Prepare the Crunchy Topping: In a separate bowl, combine the crushed vanilla wafers, crushed freeze-dried strawberries, and melted butter. Stir well to coat the crumbs evenly and form the strawberry crunch.
- Layer First Portion: In a 9×9-inch dish or individual serving cups, layer half of the banana pudding mixture at the bottom, followed by a layer of sliced bananas and fresh strawberries.
- Add Crunchy Topping: Sprinkle half of the strawberry crunch topping evenly over the fruit layer.
- Repeat Layers: Repeat the layering process with the remaining banana pudding, sliced bananas and strawberries, and the rest of the strawberry crunch topping.
- Chill: Cover the dish or cups and refrigerate for at least 2 hours to allow the pudding to set and the flavors to meld.
- Garnish and Serve: Before serving, garnish the pudding with extra fresh strawberries and banana slices if desired for a fresh and vibrant finish.
Notes
- Use cold milk to ensure the pudding mix thickens properly.
- For best texture, crush vanilla wafers and freeze-dried strawberries finely but not to powder.
- Refrigerate for at least 2 hours or overnight for optimal flavor and firmness.
- Can be prepared in individual cups for easy serving and presentation.
- Optional garnish adds freshness and visual appeal but is not necessary.
